OLYMPUS OM10 / PRAGUE

I finally got some old film developed! And one of those rolls of film included these photos I took when we were in Prague last October. Our original honeymoon plans got put a bit on hold due to me getting a new job, so this was sort of a mini honeymoon for us instead. We had an awesome trip! Prague was so beautiful with all the autumn colors, and we ate so much good food. Unfortunately though, I wasn't able to try the beer as I was pregnant, so I'll definitely have to come back some time!

These photos were all shot on the Olympus OM10, using 35mm Kodak Portra 400 film. I love how crisp the colors come out, perfect to show off the contrast between those red roofs and blue skies. It's technically Graeme's camera, but I think I'll definitely be borrowing it again in the future!

OLYMPUS OM10 / A WEEKEND IN OSLO

So my due date has come and passed, and there's still no sign of mini McMillan. To kill some time, I've been working on a new photo book. Just over a year ago, Graeme and I hopped on the train and headed to Oslo one weekend. Our trip was for wedding related business. In order for us to get married in Norway, we needed to visit the British Embassy so that Graeme could swear on a bible to prove that he was not already married in his home country. We found this whole concept hilarious (we're not religious in the slightest for a start), but decided to make the most of it and enjoy a lovely spring weekend away.

With a bit of luck I also managed to snatch my dream wedding dress that weekend. I'd tried it on in a shop in London, but sadly they only had one left that was just a little too tight. And by some bizarre stroke of luck, there was a girl in Oslo that weekend selling the exact same dress, only actually in my size. She'd bought it in New York for a wedding that had been put on hold, so the dress hadn't even been worn and still had the tags on. Graeme and I celebrated afterwards with a pint at Grunerløkka Brygghus.

These were all shot by Graeme (except for the one with Graeme in it) on the Olympus OM10 with 35mm film. I love this camera, and I've been using it quite a bit recently. I handed in a film to get developed last week, so I'm quite excited to see how they'll turn out!

DIANA F+ / SOUTH KOREA

If you're a regular reader, you may know that I visited my sister in South Korea earlier this year. I took lots of photos with my SLR camera (which I really need to make a photobook out of—ASAP!), but I also took a couple of rolls of 120 film with my Diana F+. I had completely forgotten about them though, as they were hiding behind a couple Cadbury creme eggs in my fridge (that I sadly also forgot about and have now gone off. Fail!). So I was both excited and surprised when I got these back from the developer's. Even more so, when I realized that the other film I shot in Korea (also fisheye, of buildings on Geoje) appears to be hiding. I had a couple of really cool shots of the building my sister lived in on that film, so really hoping it turns up. But for now, here's a couple shots form my surprise film.

These were all shot on 120 film with the Diana F+. The ones shot with the Fisheye lens were from a cycling trip I took to the mountains on Geoje, while the others were shot at the beach in Busan.

KAYAK TRIP TO BUNNY ISLAND

So we went on a bit of a different photo adventure yesterday! I had borrowed the kayaks from work, so Graeme and I set out to explore a couple of the little islands in Gandsfjord, and we brought along my GoPro for the occasion. Whenever I've been kayaking before, the one thing that's always bothered me is how I've not been able to take any pictures. I've never wanted to risk taking an SLR or my phone with me, and somehow, none of mine and Graeme's 14 analog cameras are waterproof. A GoPro Hero3 White Edition on sale solved that problem (and oh my, we have SO many ideas of how to use this camera with Bo. yes, this is totally happening).

The first thing that happened on our little adventure, was that Graeme caught two mackerel. Yes, they're what's for dinner tonight. Next, we continued to this magical little island full of bunnies. I was first intrigued due to the weird structure in the picture below (room with a view, anyone?), and then as we got closer to the island I noticed some strangely shaped rocks... that turned out to be rabbits! I'm not entirely sure how they got there, as they looked like domesticated rabbits, but they seemed to be enjoying their little grassy island in the sun. We went ashore to explore, and on the other side of the island there was a small pebble beach where I went for a swim (my first swim in the sea in Norway this year, and it's in September...?), while Graeme paddled around and had his toes nibbled by the little fish.

DIANA F+ FISHEYE / BORE

Ahoy matey! Graeme and I passed our boat license exam last week. Step one of becoming Captain Hilde is complete.

And on that note I thought I would share a couple of pictures from a roll of film I got developed recently. These were taken at a bit of a spontaneous trip to Bore beach one evening this summer, where I was about get ready for bed and was moaning about how we hadn't been to the beach in a while, so Graeme said "Ok, let's go! and off we went. These were shot with my trusty Diana F+, with 120 film and a fisheye lens.

Now all we need is a boat...

OLYMPUS TRIP & LA SARDINA // TJELTA

Yay, another roll of film developed! These were taken earlier this year around Easter, when Graeme and I took the dog for a little trip to the beach. Graeme brought his Olympus Trip and I brought the Lomography La Sardina. I love how the different cameras capture color so differently (the ones further down with the really vibrant water are taken with the Trip).

 

One of the things I love about living where I do, is that we have so many beautiful beaches so close. The coastline is about a 15 minute drive away from my house, and it's just one sandy beach after another. The water gets heated by the gulf stream as well, so it gets pretty warm during summer, considering how far north it is. It's pretty much one of my favorite places to hang out in the summer. Having said that, on this particular day the water was absolutely freezing, as Graeme discovered when he found a half dead fish lying in the sand and tried to save it by getting it back in the water (above). Bo didn't seem to mind though!

LA SARDINA / HAUSVIK

Hi, remember me? I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus this summer. It wasn't really intentional. It started out with a pretty busy schedule with work and weekends away and other stuff going on, and then with all this amazing weather we've been having, it was nice to not think about trying to fit blogging in as well. Because let's be honest, this whole blogging thing can be pretty time consuming. And who wants to sit inside on their laptop when it's so gorgeous and sunny outside? I live on the west coast of Norway, and we don't really get a whole lot of days like this over here after all. But then after a while it kind of dawned on me that it's been forever since I had any projects on the go. As Graeme's here now (he came and surprised me on my front door a week early... with no return ticket to the UK! :D), so we've been on a few photo adventures recently.

 

The film is currently being developed, so I'm hoping to be able to share of those photos soon. In the meantime, I thought I'd share a few photos from a roll of film that has been sitting in my fridge for a while and I recently got developed. So flashback to last summer, when Graeme's friend came to visit and we headed to my parents' cottage at the south of Norway for a bit of fishing. These were all taken with the Lomography La Sardinia, with regular 35mm film. It's been a while since we've been there now, so we'll have to make a trip down soon!

On a completely different note, Graeme is currently working on a new design for my blog! So stay tuned!

DIANA F+ / AMSTERDAM

Now it seems like forever ago since I was in Amsterdam, but it's not been until recently I got my photos back from the photo developers. Having to wait so long is part of the charm of shooting with analog film, right? Graeme got me a fisheye lens for my birthday, so I played around with that a little too and I'm really excited about how the fisheye photos turned out. I will definitely be using this lens a lot going forward!

We had an awesome time! Went on a boat ride in the canals, visited the zoo, and drank plenty of dutch beer. I love Amsterdam, and it's totally on my list of places I'd love to live. It's just got such a lovely vibe to it, plus I can't help swooning over all those beautiful brick houses lined up against the canals. Will definitely need to go back soon!
